James Bath testified about emergency treatment at the Forum after the Marathon explosions, including attempts to control Lingzi Lu's bleeding and his request for CPR as her breathing deteriorated. His testimony addressed the injuries and medical response, not the identity of whoever caused the explosions.

About
James Bath testified for the prosecution on Day 29 about treating severely injured people at the Forum after hearing two explosions. A general practitioner, he described the immediate medical aftermath of the bombing rather than identifying who caused it.
Bath recounted attempts to control Lingzi Lu's bleeding with belt tourniquets. He described her deteriorating breathing, explained that he believed she was dying, and asked someone near her head to begin CPR before moving to help other patients. When he returned, he thought she had died but could not say for sure. Inside the Forum, he also assessed Haslet's severed foot and helped control her companion's leg bleeding.
While retrieving Lu's identification, Bath found warm metal in her purse. He said it remained there and went with her, but he did not identify its source. He acknowledged uncertainty about other debris because his attention had been on the smoke and injured people, and estimated that he stayed at the scene for 30 to 45 minutes. He identified himself in response photographs, and the court admitted Government Exhibits 21-43, 21-44, and 21-47. The defense declined cross-examination, and Bath was excused.
