About
Nicole Gross testified for the prosecution on Day 49 about being injured while watching the Boston Marathon with her husband and sister. She described the explosion as she moved closer to the spectators' front row, her inability to run for help, emergency assistance, and feeling alone during transport and at the hospital.
Gross reported between ten and 11 surgeries, severe leg and ankle injuries, a damaged eardrum, and complications from a blood-clotting filter. She clarified that her account of tourniquet treatment came from information she learned afterward. Over a defense objection, she testified that she learned her sister had lost a leg below the knee and had undergone more than 20 surgeries.
The court admitted photographs 1619, 1620, and 19 despite renewed or previously overruled objections. Gross identified family members in other photographs but did not recognize a person counsel indicated wearing a black cap. The defense asked no questions.
