About
William Campbell III testified for the prosecution on Day 49 about his sister Krystle and the effect of her death on their family. Under Nadine Pellegrini's questioning, he described her determination, restaurant career, close family relationships, and affection for his son. He explained that he and Krystle had been close friends as well as siblings.
Campbell recounted receiving a call from a nurse using Krystle's phone and initially being told at the hospital that she would survive. He relayed that reassurance to relatives while the family waited through what they believed was her surgery. They later learned that the patient had been misidentified. Campbell said he suspected the patient was Krystle's friend Karen Rand. He described learning of Krystle's death, his parents' continuing struggles, and his own loss of daily conversations with his sister.
During the examination, defense counsel challenged proposed photographs under the court's earlier criteria. The court excluded Exhibit 1601-23 as unnecessary and admitted nine other photographs, which were displayed when questioning resumed. The defense asked Campbell no questions.
