About
Gregory Homol testified for the prosecution on Day 29 as director of the UMass Dartmouth Fitness Center. Under questioning by William D. Weinreb, he explained its barcode check-in system and authenticated a report that the court admitted as Exhibit 1180H5 without objection.
Homol identified a check-in under Jahar Tsarnaev for April 16, 2013, at 9:05 p.m. He initially read the month as March, then corrected it after Weinreb pointed out the numeral 4. He said the center's records and surveillance had been accurate to the best of his knowledge.
Homol explained that users did not swipe out, so the check-in report did not establish a departure time. He agreed that surveillance could establish an exit time if it showed the same person leaving, but supplied no actual departure time. The defense asked no questions.
