Shane O'Hara
Manager of the Marathon Sports store on Boylston Street in Boston.
About
Shane O'Hara testified for the prosecution on Day 27 about the explosion outside Marathon Sports, where he was store manager, and the immediate efforts to help injured people. He described hearing the blast, seeing a cloud engulf the store window, bringing people inside, and gathering apparel for tourniquets and other emergency aid. He said deciding whom to help first continued to haunt him.
During direct examination by William D. Weinreb, O'Hara authenticated three photographs and the store's surveillance video, which were admitted without objection as Exhibits 6 through 9. Playback prompted a qualification of his recollection: although he remembered the day well, he had not necessarily remembered personally applying a tourniquet and had thought he handed that task to someone else.
O'Hara also described a shattered pane, other store damage, and a ten-day closure of the store and street. His testimony concerned the bombing's immediate effects and rescue activity, rather than identifying a perpetrator or explaining the brothers' respective roles. Judy Clarke declined questioning, and the Court excused him.
