About
Sydney Corcoran testified for the prosecution on Day 27 about the blast outside Marathon Sports, emergency aid, and her resulting injuries. Under Nadine Pellegrini's questioning, she described losing sight of her parents in dense smoke, being unable to bear weight on her right foot, and apparently passing out. She recalled men applying pressure and tourniquets to her thigh before she was taken to the medical tent. She later learned that her femoral artery had been severed.
Corcoran described fearing that her parents had died, then learning at the hospital that her mother was alive but had lost both legs. She recounted their reunion and estimated that she underwent seven or eight operations. Her testimony detailed missing bone and tendon in her foot, surgery to repair her artery using a vein from her other leg, extensive scars, and retained fragments. She qualified her recollection of reaching the ground and limited her account of remaining fragments to those she knew about.
Corcoran recognized herself in a photograph and video and confirmed their accuracy. The court noted and overruled an objection, admitted the images as Exhibits 13 and 14, and allowed the photograph to be displayed and the video played. The objection's grounds were not stated in the exchange. Defense counsel asked no questions.
